I just wanted to write a quick life update really, any old excuse to have a natter is a good one! I feel like I’ve been a bit MIA over the past couple of month, particularly in regards to my blog. In fact in all honesty it’s been a bit of a struggle to get my bum on a seat to sit and write, not that there aren’t plenty of thoughts and ideas whizzing round my brain that need to go down on paper (or keyboard). It’s been more of a struggle with time management and other commitments in my life right now that the blog has become a little more inconsistent than I would have liked.
At the moment I seem to be juggling all sorts of life-sized balls, including working four days a week, studying a photography course at my local college, being a mumma & a wife, and trying to grab much-needed family time with my boys as and when we can. Our calendar seems so chaotic this summer, what with oodles of children’s birthday parties, social events, after school clubs and personal appointments, it almost seems never-ending. The one day a week I have managed to grab to myself (which in an ideal world would be my post writing and blog post reading day) seems to get stuffed up with errands and jobs. Then before you know it, it’s time to do the school run and within the blink of an eye it’s bed time. I’m sure time goes faster the old you get.
My Instagram account is pretty easy to keep up to scratch, with regular posting and engagement, yet sometimes even that can take an hour out of the day shooting images, editing and writing about whatever I want to write about. I do love it though, and interacting with my fellow bloggers and followers is amazing, we are so lucky to be a part of an amazing community of amazing people. The 8th of June was actually the year anniversary of me starting my Pretty Polly Beauty Insta account, and it’s been fab seeing how fay my photography and the general feel of my grid has come so far.
I’m looking at the light at the end of the tunnel now though. My photography course is due to finish towards the end of the month and at the moment I’m at panic stations trying to make sure everything is ready for my portfolio to be handed in for assessment and marking. I think once that’s done and regardless of whether or not I’ve passed or failed, I’ll be able to breathe a little easier. Even though I physically attend only one night a week, it’s often been so hard finding the time to sit down and work on my portfolio, and then there’s the aspect of setting up the shoots themselves. I sound like I’m moaning but I’m really not, I’ve learnt so much and doing this course has given me the confidence to do things I never thought I could do!
So what’s the plan? I’m hoping with the time I will soon be gaining to set a more vigorous routine when it comes to blogging. I’m not going to restrict my self to posting at a certain time on a certain day, because frankly if I can’t meet that deadline for whatever reason, I’ll end up feeling pants about it and that’s no fun for anyone. But once a week would be my preferred. I’ve also been having thoughts on and off about going re-vamping and going self hosted, but maybe that is better left until I’m happy with where my blog is at.
The message at the end of all this is that I’d like to think you will see more of me from mid summer onwards! Thanks to those of you who have stuck around and continue to read/engage with me. I know it’s often hard, and I am also aiming to make more time to read the material that all you other lovely bloggers create!
