Winter’s Beauty Empties

Hello if you’re a newcomer, welcome back if you’re not!

So if you follow my blog you’ll know I love a good empties post. But writing a blog post about my beauty empties every month seems a little stale to me now, and I find that I’m repeating myself a little as there are some well love products I get through on a regular basis. Because of this, I’ve decided to make it a quarterly/seasonal feature instead and as we are coming up to what I class as the end of winter I thought this is the perfect time to pull a winter empties post out of the bag!

I’ve gotten through a fair few products since my last round-up, and it’s pretty much all skin care and hair care with a couple of fragrances for good measure. In the usual fashion I’ll detail what these are and if or what they’ve been replaced with. So let’s get to it…!

Bare Minerals Skin Longevity Serum (Sample size) – This sample came in a past Love Me Beauty bag and started a love affair. Used very morning after cleansing and toning, this serum truly brightens and evens out the skin. Replaced with: Bare Minerals Skin Longevity Serum (Full size).

John Frieda Sheer Blonde Brilliantly Bright ConditionerThis was a purchase I made based upon the recommendation of Samantha’s over at The Beauty Spyglass. My hair is colour treated and I’m always looking for ways to keep it shiny and bright. This conditioner was very nice and left my hair silky smooth. Samantha was not wrong! When I bought this it was on offer in Boots (two for X amount I think), so now it’s been Replaced with: John Frieda Sheer Blonde Hi Impact Conditioner.

The Body Shop Camomile Waterproof Eye & Lip Make up Remover – You probably won’t be surprised to see this in here. In fact I’ve got through two of them! It’s gentle, effective and cruelty free. Replaced with: Same.

Taylor’s 32 Natural Whitening Toothpaste (Classic Mint) – Another beauty box find (GlossyBox I think?) which I was excited to try. Used daily until empty but didn’t see any whitening benefits over other toothpaste so I probably wouldn’t repurchase. At Β£5.00 a tube I personally think you’re paying for the fact that it’s a natural toothpaste, but that’s just my thought on the matter. I did favour that this was SLS free which was great for fending off pesky mouth ulcers, and it tasted nice. Replaced with: Aquafresh/Colgate, whatever was on offer in the supermarket!

Pixi Glow Tonic – An exfoliating yet gentle toner which smells amazing! Perfect for all over the face after cleansing, and for battling those zits as it contains glycolic acid. Whilst we’re on the subject of Glow Tonic I’m going to throw Pixi & Caroline Hirons’ Double Cleanse in here too. Both Replaced with: Same.

Native Unearthed Coconut Vanilla Natural Deodorant Balm – A very effective natural, comfortable deodorant. It applies better when it’s warm as it softens slightly, but I adore the fragrance and it does a great job of keeping pongy odours at bay. Replaced with: Same.

Amika Perk Up Sea Buckthorne Berry & Philip Kingsley One More Day Dry Shampoo – Two little sample cans that have been sitting on my shelf and reached for when my usual Batiste had run out. Both were ok, but didn’t wow me. The Amika dry shampoo had a really scrummy fragrance, and the Philip Kingsley had chic, attractive packaging, but neither blew my socks off. Replaced with: Batiste Tropical Dry Shampoo.

Pixi Hydrating Milky Mist – Now this was lovely! Milky Mist is a facial spray which includes hyaluronic acid and black oat. The actual mist was so fine, unlike some facial sprays which make you jump and screw your face up even though you know they’re coming! This was fab for applying after toning and serums in the evening as a first layer of moisture before going in with night cream. This is the sort of thing I’d take on holiday to spritz on my face by the hot poolside. Replaced withMario Badescu Rose Water & Aloe Facial Spray (needs using up but would definitely buy Milky Mist again!).

The Body Shop British Rose Hand Cream (30ml) – A favourite of mine within the realms of hand cream. It offers a beautiful floral scent and a light, non greasy texture. Replaced with: Same (100ml).

Bobbi Brown Extra Repair & Clinique Repairwear Anti-Gravity Eye Creams – These were two samples pots that I was desperately trying to get through as I was sick of looking at them. Sounds harsh but true. Both have thick, creamy consistencies whereas I prefer more of a serum feel to my eye creams as they’re lighter. These two seem quite heavy-duty and are probably aimed at harsh wrinkles which thankfully I don’t have as of yet. Nice creams, both unfragranced but didn’t win me over. Replaced with: Caudalie Sample.

Charcoalogy Facial Cleansers – This is another on you won’t be surprised to see. I’ve got through two of these as well, one being the Detoxifying Face Wash and the other being the Facial Clay Cleanser. You can read more about my thoughts on Charcoalogy here. Replaced with: Same – already had back ups.

Vera Wang Princess EDT – This is a fragrance I buy time and time again, and burn through it because I love the scent so much (thank god it’s not expensive!). It’s light, feminine and hasΒ  real oriental twang which I adore. I’ve also been loving Ariana Grande Sweet Like Candy EDP, which is a very sweet fragrance, and is one I love to spritz all over my scarf and nestle into its comforting vanilla and frangipani notes.

Little Green Soap Company Oil Cleanser – Another product I love. This was my first bottle, which lasted me for absolutely ages as a little goes a long way. Beautiful as a morning cleanse, or I particularly like to apply it in the evening after exfoliating, letting the oil sink into the skin whilst I’m in the shower. Applying it to freshly exfoliated skin it feels like silk, and a real facial treat. Replaced with: Same.

Facial Sheet Masks – I’ve slowed down a little on the old sheet mask consumption as I’ve been enjoying cream and powder masks. But I have still got a few to share with you. We’ve got a good old Tony Moly mask, this one being their Seaweed Skin Purifying version. Then I tried a Petitfee Gold Hydrogel Mask which looked like a dupe for the Oh K! Life Gold Dust mask, and it pretty much was as it came in two separate parts. I think I prefer Oh K!’s mask over this one as it seemed to fit and stick to my face a little better. Then more recently I’ve tried a Retinol Spa Treatment Mask from Global Beauty Care. I liked this concept of applying retinol to the skin and my face did feel temporarily firmer after use. The Petitfee and Global Beauty Care masks were both TK Maxx finds, so unfortunately I can’t link you to those unfortunately..

There have been quite a lot of products in this empties collection that have become staples in my beauty collection. Pixi skin care in particular has really made an impression on me over recent months and I feel like I’m finally getting into my groove in regards to a regime. As always I LOVE trying products and can’t say I’ll ever stop adding new items to my collection, after all that’s the fun part! But it does feel good to know I’ve found some dependable and effecting goodies that I can reach for. So that rounds up my winter beauty empties! The next time I will be posting about my empties will be towards the end of spring and I don’t know about you but even I’m excited to see what will be in that one! Leave me a comment and let me know which products you’ve been trying through the winter months, or even leave me a link to your own empties posts, I love to have a good snoop! Oh and if you like this post, please be sure to give it a little like πŸ™‚ .

With Love

Hey thanks for the shout out lovely! Glad to hear you still love the John Frieda blonde. I’m still using the high- impact conditioner after repurchasing it a couple of times. Still want to try the pixi tonic and heard lots of good things about the mist.

I agree with you on empties posts, I only do them occasionally but quarterly is a good idea!
    Fab detailed post as always.
